The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences and Magee-Womens, UPMC Hamot are seeking two outstanding BC/BE MFM subspecialists to establish a consultation service our newly built, state-of-the-art facility devoted to meeting the health care needs of women and infants in the tri-state area of northwestern Pennsylvania, New York State and eastern Ohio.  This is an outstanding opportunity to enjoy the beauty of great lake living in the professionally stimulating setting of one of the best OBGYN departments in the nation recognized for its excellence in clinical care, research, and education. Magee-Womens, UPMC Hamot is a dedicated women’s hospital and regional transport center on the UPMC Hamot Campus that performs upwards of 2200 deliveries annually. It has a 24-bed, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and full neonatology team. Consultants filling this position will provide on-site services that have to this point been supported by the 19 physician members of the UPMC Maternal Fetal  Medicine team through telemedicine. This opportunity offers the prospect of covering the full scope of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in a community setting while collaborating with our multidisciplinary team in Pittsburgh. The MFM consultants will join a vibrant department of 16 generalists, and subspecialists in Gyn Oncology, Urogynecology, REI and Reproductive Infectious Diseases. 


The clinical scope of this position is broad, including coverage of obstetrical ultrasound, fetal anomalies, telemedicine services, prenatal diagnosis procedures, and perinatal consultation. For those with interest, opportunities exist to collaborate on research with members of the MFM division as well as investigators from nearby Penn State Behrendt.   Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) is the largest independent research institute in the world focused solely on women’s health research. An Erie satellite site of the MWRI is scheduled to open in late 2019 with an aim to provide the women of the Erie community an opportunity to participate in clinical trials, registries, and the MOMI database and biospecimen repository.


The Division supports the Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program ACGME approved to accept three fellows each year. LECOM Medical students and UPMC OB/GYN residents rotate at UPMC Hamot on an elective basis. Candidates must possess a commitment to education consistent with the academic mission of the University of Pittsburgh.

UPMC Hamot is a 423-bed hospital in Erie, PA, offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services, and serves as regional referral hub and Level II Trauma Center. The Medical Staff has over 500 physicians representing most specialties and subspecialties. Project 20/20, a seven-story patient tower scheduled to be completed in 2020, will house two new intensive care units. In additional, the new patient tower will expand critical care services and will include a neurocritical care POD to enhance the care provided to neurological disorders. 
The successful candidate will have exceptional clinical acumen, excellent communication skills and ability to function in a consultative role independently.  Successful candidates must be board certified in MFM, or at a career stage appropriate to be considered for candidacy for board certification. Candidates must possess an MD or DO. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
