Additional Information

The Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology must be eligible for an appointment to the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the faculty of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in either the Teaching Scholar or Research Scholar track.  Physician must possess or be eligible for medical licensure in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  He/she must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.   The Director reports to the Chair/Chief of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.The Division Director will be expected to spend 50% time on administrative, teaching, and research efforts with the remaining 50% time devoted to clinical care.  These percentages may be adjusted by the Chair/Chief as deemed appropriate.

Administrative

Administrative and interpersonal skills are necessary in order to manage and advance the Division within the Department, the hospital, and the medical school. 
The Division has ongoing major programs in Assisted Reproduction (including IVF, ICSI and PGD), infertility surgery and the treatment of the menopause and other reproductive endocrine conditions.  The Division Director will be expected to manage and/or oversee the management and continued success of these clinical programs, and develop new programs as appropriate, including the maintenance of appropriate approvals from licensing agencies.  The Division Director will be responsible for developing and ensuring the continued success of the Division’s research and teaching activities, and for faculty development within the Division.  The Division Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Division in the context of a health care environment which presents increasingly complex challenges to academic medicine.  The Division Director will be responsible for budgeting and strategic planning within the Division. 

Clinical  

The Division Director will be responsible for clinical quality management within Reproductive Medicine and Infertility.  He/she will be responsible for quality review, development of new programs and phasing out of non-productive programs as appropriate, and the maintenance of clinical skills within the Division.  The Division Director will be responsible for assuring that a high level of quality is maintained in the IVF laboratory, and that appropriate licensing body and regulatory approvals are kept current.  The Division Director will be responsible for making certain that the Division is responsive to the changing needs of the patient population served and to changes in the health care climate, by maintaining flexibility of the clinical programs.  

Teaching
 
The Division has teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as continuing medical education within the hospital and medical school.  The Division Director will be responsible for achieving and maintaining high quality educational programs in all of these areas.  The Division Director will be responsible for maintaining a board-approved fellowship program in REI.

Research
 
The Division Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining high quality research activities within the Division.  One of the primary missions of the Division is to add to the body of knowledge regarding Reproductive Medicine and Infertility. 

 
Qualifications
  • Must be ABOG board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
  • Must possess a national reputation of scholarly achievement
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
  • Must qualify for a full-time faculty position as Associate Professor or Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brown University
  • Experience with supervision of physicians, clinical, and administrative staff is required
