Dignity Health Medical Group – Arizona (DHMG), based in Phoenix, seeks applications and nominations for an accomplished leader to serve as Chair, Department of OB/GYN and Women’s Health. DHMG, an employed, multidisciplinary, and academic physician group with over 200 providers and 500 staff, is currently underway in a transformational expansion of its clinical, medical education, and research programs. Dignity Health Arizona is affiliated with Creighton University School of Medicine, which is currently building a new, $150m, 200,000 sq. ft. four-year medical school and health science campus in downtown Phoenix.
The growing Department of OB/GYN and Women’s Health is currently comprised of 22 faculty: 14 OB/GYN, four Maternal-Fetal Medicine, three Pelvic Pain, and one Gynecologic Oncologist. DHMG, along with Valleywise Health (a comprehensive public healthcare system serving Maricopa County), co-sponsors the largest OB/GYN residency program in Arizona with nine new Residents per year; in total, 36 OB/GYN residents rotate through DHMG / Dignity Health Arizona each year. The Academic Chair resides within Valleywise while the Program Director is employed by DHMG. DHMG physicians provide services across Dignity Health Arizona’s 24 practice sites and other affiliated hospitals. Dignity Health Arizona includes seven acute-care hospitals, anchored by St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC), a 595-bed tertiary center that is home to a Level III NICU and over 4500 deliveries each year. DHMG is actively expanding its educational and training activities beyond SJHMC at two additional Dignity Health AZ hospitals in Phoenix’s rapidly growing East Valley region.
The Chair, Department of OB/GYN and Women’s Health will have primary accountability for the overall success of the Department by improving the quality of clinical care, education and scholarship. S/he will collaborate with the DHMG administration to strategically plan the future growth and development of the Department, service lines within the Department, and the implementation of educational programs. The Chair will be eligible and highly encouraged to qualify for a faculty appointment at Creighton University and the University of Arizona.
We are seeking a well-rounded and collaborative physician leader (MD, DO or equivalent) with proven successful leadership experience in an academic/teaching hospital or medical group environment. S/he should have 10+ years of clinical excellence in patient care and be qualified for appointment at the rank of Professor. The ability to obtain unrestricted medical licensure in Arizona and alignment with the mission and guiding principles of Dignity Health are required.
