THE POSITION:  The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health (OBGYN & WH) is seeking a dynamic Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist with solid clinical and academic experience to serve as the Director of Inpatient Obstetrics for the Jack D. Weiler Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.  The individual will join the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and be a part of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division within one of the largest OBGYN & WH departments in the country.   The Department serves a very diverse and medically challenging patient population.  The Hospital is a New York State designated is a regional perinatal center for 7 other area hospitals and features a level 4 NICU.

The Department is committed to scientific discovery and to education, with one of the largest residency programs (46 trainees) and fellowships in every discipline, five of which are ACGME accredited. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist division provides care to patients throughout the Bronx and southern Westchester counties. In collaboration with the Generalist division, the Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists oversee the 24/7/365 Labor & Delivery service across two hospitals with levels 3 and 4 NICUs, averaging more than 5,000 deliveries per year.

The selected MFM physician will report to the Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine and be responsible for organizing and managing the inpatient obstetrical unit at Weiler Hospital, including: labor and delivery, obstetrical operating rooms and triage and the antepartum and postpartum units.  The Director will also be responsible for developing, approving, communicating, and implementing management plans for complex patients, as well as creating and implementing policies not only to promote patient safety but to enhance the quality of the experience of patients presenting for care on the service.

The selected MFM will working closely with highly trained Generalist partners throughout the prenatal and post-partum periods and will take primary responsibility for patients with significant co-morbidities. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise and a strong aptitude for, and commitment to, high risk, complex labor and delivery clinical services; and be committed to health equity and addressing social determinants of health.

: The successful candidate must possess an MD, have completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and be Board Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine. The candidate must also have obtained ABOG Board Certification in General OB/GYN and be able to obtain a New York Medical License.  Practice experience of at least 3 years is preferred.
