Position Description
 The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of UW Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor level for an academic appointment without tenure to be the medical director of the UW Medicine - Valley Medical Center MFM clinic, joining another UW MFM faculty member.  UW Medicine is the premier academic medical center in Washington state, encompasses 4 hospitals in the Seattle metro area and is the primary referral hospital for the five-state WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. The department supports a residency program, three fellowship programs and is a major teaching site for UW medical students.   This opportunity will be predominantly at the MFM clinic at UW Medicine - Valley Medical Center (UW Medicine-VMC) in Renton, Washington which is about 30 minutes south of Seattle.  The MFM clinic supports a growing 3,000 delivery volume that has a level III NICU and provides additional outpatient consulting services to neighborhood practices and hospitals.  It has 2 genetic counselors, 4.5 sonographers of which 2 are fetal echo certified, RNs and MAs to support the clinic.  The faculty member will provide outpatient care to referred patients for detailed ultrasounds and management of complex fetal and/or maternal medical conditions in addition to medical directorship of the clinic.  This includes but not limited to development of outpatient clinical guidelines/pathways, oversight of complex patients and the ultrasound program, scheduling efficiencies, quality assessment and improvements, and partnership with UW MFM division and hospital-based obstetricians in patient care.  Additional clinical leadership opportunities may also be available.  This is an outpatient consult position without in house call.

 UW Medicine - VMC is a 341-bed acute care hospital and clinic network committed to providing safe, quality, compassionate care since 1947. The successful applicant would also serve as a liaison between Valley and UW MFM at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and other UW Medicine clinical locations.  Candidates must possess excellent clinical skills, competency in outpatient obstetrical imaging and fetal echocardiogram, commitment to team work and team building as well as a commitment to education and research consistent with the academic mission of UW Medicine to improve the health of the public.  This candidate should have also demonstrated experience and success in leadership activities that represent interactions across all elements of successful patient care.  There are opportunities to participate in research.  There is a strong research infrastructure and interdisciplinary culture within our department and with the broader UW community. Clinical titled faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a 12-month service period position (July 1 - June 30), with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2023. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Qualifications

 Candidates must have a MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and must have completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (or foreign equivalent). In addition, candidates must be board certified in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. A foreign equivalent is acceptable. Candidates must have at least five years of practical experience in a clinical setting.  All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
