Applications are invited for this first faculty appointment suitable for a current post-doctoral fellow with PhD training focused on Cardiovascular Health and Hypertensive Diseases in Pregnancy. The successful applicant will have a joint hospital appointment in the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and must be eligible for a Status-Only faculty appointment in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The appointment is for an initial fixed term of 5 years with a mandate to direct the J.W. Knox Ritchie Research Program in Hypertensive Diseases of Pregnancy. The successful candidate will be expected to secure a graduate studies cross-appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at Temerty Medicine. The anticipated start date is January 1st, 2023, or a subsequent mutually agreeable date.

Mount Sinai Hospital is a major regional referral centre for all aspects of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Neonatology, with over 7400 births/year. It is a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in women’s and infants’ health forms a major component.

The successful candidate should hold a relevant PhD and have since demonstrated a productive post-doctoral career defined by their record of relevant peer-reviewed publications and evidence of grant capture. Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals wishing to make a transition to their first faculty appointment. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their research career research across clinical and translational platforms in cardiovascular pathophysiology related to pregnancy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to conduct research effectively with clinicians that manage pregnant individuals with hypertensive complications of pregnancy, especially in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Adult Cardiology.
