The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the MetroHealth System, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking applications for a full time employed Maternal-Fetal Medicine Faculty Member to expand our growing division and share in our dedication to our mission of "leading the way to a healthier you and a healthier community through service, teaching, discovery and teamwork.
We are seeking an academic physician who has interest in a role as research director for the Department. This role will include designing a research curriculum, mentoring research projects for residents and fellows, obtaining grants and selected industry-supported studies. Dedicated time will be provided to accomplish these activities. A successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and teaching skills, will be Board Certified or a candidate for Certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. This position is anticipated to be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University. Academic rank and dedicated research time will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

MetroHealth is a national leader in population health initiatives and improving the social determinants of community health. We are also actively involved in the teaching of MetroHealths MFM fellows, Ob/Gyn residents, and Case Western Reserve University medical students. MetroHealth is home to one of the oldest Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship programs in the country.
In addition to being a Clinical Center within the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD-MFMU (Kelly Gibson, MD - PI) and NuMoM2b-HHS2 (Brian Mercer, M.D. - PI) Research Networks, the Divisions ongoing funded research includes studies regarding hypertension, preterm birth prediction and prevention, neonatal body composition, fetal membrane physiology, and evaluation and implementation of safety bundles. Our perinatal database is the oldest ongoing electronic database in the country extending back to 1974. Our electronic Medical Record extends back to 1999, and our Clinical Informatics Department has partnered with large vendor datasets such as Epics Cosmos and TrinetX. Each of these provides significant opportunity for research addressing pregnancy complications, generational impacts of health disparities and social determinants of health. MetroHealth also has boasts a nationally recognized Population Health Department which partners with researchers interested in reducing health disparities. Last year, the Population Health Department brought $26 million of grants to MetroHealth. We are a level 1 trauma center.
The MetroHealth System is redesigning our campus with an innovative transformation plan to meet the needs of our patients and community programs. It will include senior and low-cost housing, job training, community internet facilities, a new hospital complex and large parks. The new MetroHealth hospital features state of the art facilities including a new Labor and Delivery and NICU that opened in early 2023. A new outpatient pavilion is on schedule to open in 2024.
