7th Annual First Year MFM Fellows Retreat
Dear 1st Year MFM Fellows,
On behalf of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and our co-sponsors The Pregnancy Foundation, and Ferring Pharmaceutical, we are excited to be inviting all first year MFM fellows to the 7th Annual Fellows Retreat which will be held November 5-7, 2016, at Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, IL.
An exciting program is being developed that will cover career skills, work-life balance, and research. The emphasis will be on small group sessions led by highly regarded leaders in the specialty. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet the faculty as well as fellows from other programs across the country, informally during meal and leisure time and at the team building sessions that will be incorporated into the program. A more detailed program will be sent out at a later date. You will also be receiving information about participating in the required pre-and post-Retreat surveys which will contribute to this Retreat and make those in the future even better. In the meanwhile, we just want to convey some basic information to help with your planning.
Accommodations: The Eaglewood Resort http://www.eaglewoodresort.com is approximately 12 miles from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Your room reservations will be made on your behalf by SMFM and charges (room/tax only) will be direct billed to our master account. The Retreat officially gets underway at 3:30pm on Saturday, November 5, with a Welcome by SMFM President Dr. Mary Norton. This short introduction and overview of the program will be followed by a general session, then a cocktail reception, dinner, and post-dinner Team Building exercise. The Retreat will conclude around 2:00pm on Monday, November 7. Only the nights of November 5-6 will be covered by SMFM at Eaglewood. If you plan to arrive earlier or depart later, you will need to secure and pay for your own accommodations on the non-covered nights. Given the busy program schedule and limited accommodations, we insist that you attend alone and not be accompanied by anyone, including family members.
Computers: Please bring your laptop for optimal participation. There will be WiFi in the general session room and members of our group will also receive one complimentary wireless connection per day.
Dress Code: Dress throughout the event is business casual. There is an opportunity to relax and exercise, so bring appropriate attire.
Special Needs: Should you have any special dietary requirements or accommodation needs, please inform the SMFM Office (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The sponsors of the Retreat are supporting the costs of all rooms and meals at Eaglewood. We are also arranging for complimentary group transportation back to O’Hare at the conclusion of the Retreat. Not covered is airfare or other transportation costs, including ground transportation from the airport to the resort, and hotel stays outside the official Retreat dates. In the past, most programs have helped their fellows defray some of the transportation costs and we hope that same spirit of support will continue.
Please use the attached form to register and secure your place at the 2016 Retreat. We look forward to your participation.
