OVERVIEW
The SMFM Research Committee in conjunction with invited speakers with expertise in fetal growth will outline a proposed SMFM position on research case definition for fetal growth restriction (FGR). The proposed definition will be presented and debated with input from interested SMFM members.

GOAL
To identify the controversies in defining fetal growth restriction and to propose a SMFM position on a common definition for research purposes.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Identify controversies and data gaps in defining fetal growth restriction and correlation with outcomes, particularly clinically meaningful and long-term outcomes.
  2. Propose a SMFM position to bring researchers to use the same terminology so research outcomes can be compared across studies.
  3. Stimulate more collaborative research.
