Maternal morbidity and mortality are at all-time highs, with cardiovascular disease the most prevalent etiology. MFM physicians must be proficient in the management of a variety of cardiovascular diagnoses. Providing comprehensive antepartum and peripartum care requires familiarity with management algorithms and area of ongoing controversy. This course will highlight the current challenges and solutions to treat cardiac disease in pregnancy.  

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) and SMFM.   1. Clearly delineate how the physiologic changes of pregnancy affect the underlying cardiovascular lesion
  2. Risk stratify cardiac disease as it pertains to maternal and fetal/neonatal outcomes
  3. Outline the management goals of antepartum and peripartum management for significant cardiac conditions including ongoing controversies
  4. Characterize the goal of multidisciplinary team management for specific cardiac lesions including areas of controversy
