- CVD Screening in pregnant patients;
- Patient Education;
- Multidisciplinary Planning.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify current efforts to screen cardiac pregnant patient. The attendee should leave knowing the triad solution to preventing morbidity and mortality associated with cardiac disease in pregnancy including: 1. CVD Screening; 2. Patient Education; 3. Multidisciplinary Planning.
- Interpret pregnancy cardiovascular signs and symptoms in the pregnant patient. The attendee should leave knowing the key signs and symptoms in pregnancy that are due to the normal physiologic cardiovascular changes
- Identify the most devastating cardiac conditions in pregnancy
- Analyze diagnostic tools and appropriate cardiac interventions in the cardiac pregnant patient. The attendee should know when to order cardiac diagnostics in the pregnant patient and how to interpret them
- Demonstrate the ability to triage a cardiac emergency in the pregnant patient. The attendee should know when a patient can be reassured, referred for further evaluation as outpatient and when to transfer for immediate urgent evaluation as inpatient.
