Race, Racism, and Perinatal Health: State of the Science
Jan. 19, 2021 7:30 - 9pm
Join some of the most well-known
experts in sociology, public health, and perinatal research to explore this
important and timely topic. We will discuss the socially constructed
nature of race, including how best to measure and include race and racism in
health equity research. Cutting edge measurements of structural racism will be
reviewed, as well as the ways in which race and racism interact with the
underlying biology of adverse obstetric outcomes. An expert panel
discussion at the conclusion of this symposium will provide opportunities for
dialogue, cross-disciplinary learning, and audience participation.
