Placenta Accreta Spectrum - Practical Approaches to Patient Care and Management
Feb. 1, 2022 8am - 4pm
Course Directors:
Sarah Rae Easter, MD
Karin Fox, MD, FACOG, MEd
Scott Shainker, MS, DO
Alireza Shamshirsaz, MD
Course Faculty:
Christina Duzyj Buniak, MD, MPH
Ilan Timor-Tritsch, MD

The virtual course will not offer a hands-on component, agenda subject to change.
Course Description:
This full-day course is in 2 sessions. The incidence of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) continues to climb, however, despite this, it remains a relatively rare disease. Despite this, the importance of earlier recognition, referral for multidisciplinary care, and properly timed delivery remain the pinnacles to proper management. PAS carries with it significant risks, including, but not limited to, hemorrhage, need for hysterectomy, large volume transfusion, need for critical care, and death. As PAS becomes more prevalent, MFMs serve on the front lines in prenatal diagnosis and advocacy for proper management.
Morning Didactic Section: The 4- hour morning session is dedicated to updating participants with recent updates in imaging guidelines, contemporary management strategies, and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care.
Afternoon Interactive & Problem-Based Learning Sessions: This 3-hour afternoon session will solidify concepts introduced during the morning talks emphasizing the aforementioned learning objectives. Participants will have the ability to use polling/audience response to engage in problem-based learning and discussion.
Learning Objectives:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) and SMFM. GLC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Global Learning Collaborative designates this enduring material for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
