Course Description:

This full-day course is in 2 sessions. The incidence of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) continues to climb, however, despite this, it remains a relatively rare disease. Despite this, the importance of earlier recognition, referral for multidisciplinary care, and properly timed delivery remain the pinnacles to proper management.  PAS carries with it significant risks, including, but not limited to, hemorrhage, need for hysterectomy, large volume transfusion, need for critical care, and death.  As PAS becomes more prevalent,  MFMs serve on the front lines in prenatal diagnosis and advocacy for proper management.

Morning Didactic Section:
The 4- hour morning session is dedicated to updating participants with recent updates in imaging guidelines, contemporary management strategies, and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care.

Afternoon Interactive & Problem-Based Learning Sessions: This 3-hour afternoon session will solidify concepts introduced during the morning talks emphasizing the aforementioned learning objectives.  Participants will have the ability to use polling/audience response to engage in problem-based learning and discussion.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Discuss updated recommendations for diagnosis management of the Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) and associated conditions
  2. Outline an approach to imaging and counseling the patient with concern for PAS with accompanying strategies for surgical planning.
  3. Practice surgical and communication techniques in anticipated and unanticipated PAS management scenarios.
  4. Highlight elements of a successful multidisciplinary PAS program in terms of team training, multidisciplinary planning.
