Code of EthicsThe goals of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine include advancement of knowledge in reproductive biology that will enhance the quality of women's health care. Intellectual integrity is the cornerstone of meaningful investigation that will achieve the scientific objectives of the Society. Honesty in the conduct of research affects the physician-patient relationship because untruthful representations hamper the clinician's ability to make medical judgments that serve patient welfare.
SOCIETY FOR MATERNAL-FETAL MEDICINE ENDORSEMENT POLICY"Endorsement" is defined as the use of SMFM's name and/or logo by a third party. Endorsement requires written permission from the SMFM. Requests for endorsement must provide information on the proposed use of the SMFM name and/or logo. Any subsequent new material, whether print, electronic or other means, must be approved by the SMFM. The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) primarily limits endorsement activities to non-profit organizations. Requests from individuals and other organizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The SMFM will evaluate all requests for endorsement in terms of consistency with the overall mission and goals of the SMFM. Endorsement will only be offered for products or services that have educational or professional value to our members, or that improve the health care of women, their fetuses, and children. Requests should not conflict with SMFM mission and goals or with products offered by the SMFM. (March 10, 2006)
