SMFM Fellow Class Representative Position

The SMFM Class Representative (CR) position is an avenue for First Year Fellows to get involved with SMFM and the Foundation for SMFM leadership. SMFM hopes that this early involvement will spark career-long involvement with the Society.

The only requirement is to be a First Year Fellow. The term is three years. The term is three years and starts at the upcoming Annual Meeting each year and concludes at the Annual Meeting after the third year of fellowship. Each CR is expected to be actively engaged and contribute meaningfully during the term.

The winners will be presented at the First Year Fellows Retreat in October.

Expectations

● Sit on the Fellows Class Representative Sub-Committee of the FAC.

  • Other members: CRs from the other classes, AMRs, and a regular member of the FAC.
  • This sub-committee will have several conference calls led by the AMRs each year.
  • You will be expected to actively participate by suggesting new ideas and giving feedback. SMFM is very interested in fellow input and this is where you can make the biggest impact.

● Lead the push for the Fellows Class Gift to the Foundation

● Maintain a voluntary email list for ongoing communication with your class.

  • Examples: set up social events at the annual meeting, remind class to register for meetings/events, update class on news from the FAC, illicit/receive feedback/ideas from your class to pass on to the AMR/FAC, promote educational opportunities available to fellows.

● Promote/volunteer for fellow events at the SMFM annual meeting.

  • Assist the AMRs with the All Fellows Retreat at the annual meeting.
  • Staff the Foundation for SMFM booth.
  • Be the face of your class. Be seen. Talk to your classmates. Get ideas/feedback.

Class Representatives fulfilling these obligations for the entirety of the fellowship will be recognized at the All Fellows Retreat during the SMFM annual meeting for their commitment to the Society and the Foundation.
