Professional Bio
Dr. Alison Goulding is a high-risk obstetrician and physician-scientist working to improve perinatal mental health through implementation of evidence-based interventions. She completed medical school at the University of Michigan and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training at the University of North Carolina. After completing Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), Dr. Goulding was thrilled to stay at BCM as an Assistant Professor. She is also an Investigator at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety (IQuESt), a large health services research center funded through the Veterans Affairs system. Dr. Goulding’s current research employs mixed qualitative and quantitative methods to assess mental health needs in hospitalized antepartum patients, using these findings to inform adaptation and tailoring of evidence-based behavioral interventions. Clinically, she cares for high-risk obstetric patients within the Harris County public healthcare system in Houston, TX. Dr. Goulding serves on multiple national committees working to improve maternal health, including the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s Patient Safety and Quality Committee and the National Curriculum for Reproductive Psychiatry’s Obstetrics Committee.
