Rashmi Rao, MD, MA

Dr. Rashmi Rao is Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, the UCLA Obstetric Service Line Director, and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program Director. She completed her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Rao completed her Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at UCLA. Her clinical and research interests intersect and include high-risk pregnancy, rare diseases of pregnancy (maternal and fetal), maternal malignancy, and maternal mental health. Dr. Rao leads quality improvement and best-practice implementation efforts aimed at reducing maternal morbidity and mortality, including collaborative work with state partners such as the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative. Dr. Rao is a recipient of the National Institute of Health Rare Disease Clinical Research Training Program Grant.
