Timothy Wen, MD, MPH

Timothy Wen, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences) and Biomedical Informatics (Department of Medicine) at the University of California, San Diego. He earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and an MPH in Epidemiology from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by dual fellowships in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Clinical Informatics at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Wen’s research bridges perinatal epidemiology, clinical informatics, and health services research. Leveraging large-scale electronic health record networks and national administrative databases, his work focuses on maternal morbidity, risk prediction modeling, pharmacoepidemiology, and developing real-world evidence infrastructure to improve obstetric outcomes. Within the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), Dr. Wen has served as a member of the Clinical Informatics Committee and the Website Task Force.
