The CDC continues to recommend the following precautions:
- Avoid unpasteurized milk: Do not consume unpasteurized “raw” milk or products made with unpasteurized milk. Pasteurization kills A(H5N1) viruses, and pasteurized milk is safe to drink.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE): If your job involves contact with infected or potentially infected birds and other animals, wear appropriate and recommended PPE.
- Avoid sick or deceased animals: Avoid exposure to sick or deceased animals (both domestic and wild).
