Serve on a committee: SMFM committees are just one of the ways you can give back to the field. Apply to review abstract submissions for the SMFM Pregnancy Meeting™ with the General Abstract Review Committee, work to create a more inclusive Society by applying for the DE&I Workforce Committee, or apply for the State Liaison Network to help utilize state-level advocacy and implementation of state-based public health programs!
State Liaison Network: This member-led initiative focuses on state-level advocacy and implementation of state-based public health programs. SMFM supports their efforts to advance policies and implement public health initiatives in their states by providing technical assistance, including reviewing legislation, drafting testimony, supporting media relations, providing opportunities for networking and collaboration, and more.
Advocacy: SMFM advocates in Washington, DC, and in states across the country to advance optimal and equitable perinatal and reproductive health. Contact your legislators at the state and federal levels to voice your thoughts, opinions, and support of key legislative priorities.
For Your Practice
Recognizing the need for regular updates on coding and billing, as well as a gap in the educational preparation of physicians and other members of the MFM team, the Practice Management Division provides comprehensive preparation for the management and administration of operations of a high-risk obstetric practice through:
- In-person coding courses and webinars.
- White papers, coding tips, template letters to payors, and the ability to have a coding expert assist in resolving payer conflict.
- Two leadership training programs designed for physicians and others designed to support the personal and professional development of practice managers.
- Coding resources to ensure that patients facing high-risk pregnancies have access to appropriate care.
- Consulting Services to help you and your practice strategically promote excellence in operational efficiency, profitability, and patient care.
