Professional Bio
• Dr Seaward is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, at the University of Toronto.
• He served in various leadership roles at PCMCH for 12 years implementing many improvements in maternal infant care in the Province of Ontario. These include the Levels of Maternal and Newborn Care, the Transfer Guidelines/Delinking Group, the Reducing Elective Non-Medically Indicated Preterm Births Group and the Enhancing Intrapartum Care Metrics Work Group supported the development of recommendations, tools and guidelines that now help healthcare professionals provide their perinatal patients with high-quality and effective care. In addition, he co-chaired PCMCH’s Maternal-Newborn Committee and lent his clinical expertise to our COVID-19 Pregnancy Care Task Force and Safe Administration of Oxytocin project
• He is a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, and was Deputy Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital for 20 years and a member of the Ontario Fetal Centre. from its inception.
• He has Master’s Degrees in Medicine, Clinical Epidemiology and Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. He also completed a Diploma in Advanced Health Leadership at the Rothman School of Business as a MOHLTC Scholar.
Collaborative research publications exceed 100 and research funding exceeds $8 million.
