SMFM Statement in Support of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force

News,

The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) strongly supports the work of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and urges HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to retain the current members and the integrity of this critical independent, volunteer group of experts.

Since its inception in 1984, the USPSTF has provided important evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive health screenings, counseling services, and preventive medicines to improve the health of Americans. SMFM’s members rely on these USPSTF recommendations to guide the health care services they provide to their pregnant patients.

It is imperative that physicians and other clinicians, insurers, and patients are able to continue trusting in the USPSTF and its unbiased, evidence-based health care recommendations.
